Getting Around the Bay Area

The San Francisco Bay Area offers many different public transportation options. We recommend using 511.org, a free one‐stop source for real-time information on all modes of transportation. There are three ways to use 511.org:
  • Go to 511.org for an online trip planner
  • Dial 511 on your phone
  • Download the mobile app

511 will help plan your journey with accurate schedules, walking times, and multiple modes of transportation. You can plan:
  • By BART Rail, Ferry, or Muni (light rail, bus, street car, and cable car)
  • By foot
  • By Bike: Find bike lane maps, safe bike routes, and bike parking locations
  • By carpool Via the RideMatch program
  • By car: Get traffic maps, driving times, parking locations and more

Transportation from the Airport
Greenbuild 2012 is proud to recommend BART as the primary Sustainable transfer at SFO and OAK. When you take BART you’ll save 20 pounds of emissions from entering the atmosphere. We also encourage local riders to take BART as well. Let’s all help sustain the local community that’s hosting Greenbuild 2012!

SFO: Get to downtown San Francisco in under 30 minutes via BART, the Bay Area’s regional subway line

Purchase a BART transfer in advance! Greenbuild attendees can book a round-trip (RT) BART transfers from SFO to San Francisco in advance through a private booking page. If you're arriving at SFO go to this page to purchase your SFO transfer voucher for only $18.50. The transfer includes one additional BART ride. Choose your ticket, buy it, print the voucher and exchange it for your ticket when you arrive at SFO, avoiding ticket lines in the station. The BART voucher desk is conveniently located just outside the SFO station entrance. See the voucher for directions.

To the BART station: The SFO BART Station is located in the International Terminal at SFO. It's a short walk to United Airlines in Terminal 3, but all domestic terminals (1, 2 & 3) are one to three minutes away on the AirTrain inner-airport people mover rail system.

Board a Pittsburg/Bay Point train to one of four downtown San Francisco stations that are an easy walk or short cab ride to most San Francisco hotels. Civic Center (1st downtown stop), Powell/4th Street, Montgomery Street, Embarcadero (last downtown stop).
