CH2M HILL, Green Insulation Group and OSRAM SYLVANIA
take home highest honor
Dec. 14, 2012 – (Washington, D.C.) – The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) today announced the winners of its 2012 Greenbuild Green Exhibitor Award, recognizing the outstanding efforts of exhibiting companies that are working to successfully minimize the negative environmental effects of participating in conferences and tradeshows. The 11th annual Greenbuild International Conference & Expo took place Nov. 14-16, 2012 and convened close to 25,000 in San Francisco.
Of the 1,729 exhibit booths and 862 exhibiting companies, 154 exhibitors received recognition for going above and beyond the Greenbuild Mandatory Exhibition Green Guidelines by submitting for the Greenbuild Green Exhibitor Award. Having received points at the top tier, CH2M HILL, Green Insulation Group and OSRAM SYLVANIA were recognized with the highest distinction—the Champion level.
“The Greenbuild model is helping to transform the global meetings industry and the Green Exhibitor Award gives us an opportunity to recognize those exhibitors who are demonstrating a tremendous commitment to sustainable tradeshow practices,” and our exhibitors are helping us uphold our legacy of environmental stewardship,” said Kimberly Lewis, Senior Vice President, Community Advancement and Greenbuild, USGBC. “Our exhibitors are helping us uphold our legacy of environmental stewardship, and we are thankful for their dedication and commitment.”
Competing exhibitors are rated in five categories: booth construction, shipping materials, transportation, print/collateral and community partnerships. Exhibitors can be recognized at three different levels: Champion, Leader and Achiever. Booths self-reporting at the Champion level have their scores verified by auditors from the Green Building Certification Institute.
Greenbuild convenes the green building industry for three days of education sessions, renowned speakers, green building tours and networking. In 2012, the Expo took over the North, South and West building halls of the Moscone Convention Center. Greenbuild 2013 will be held Nov. 20-22 in Philadelphia, Pa.
