Before Paul Hawken's plenary speech, USGBC presented the sixth annual Leadership Awards to individuals and organizations whose vision, leadership, and commitment have been fundamental to the evolution of green building design and construction. Paul Hawken said that what we're facing is larger than any of us - not purely economic, political, or social; it's about putting the "e" back in human. Pessimists looking at the data will see a very negative picture, he said, but he was certain that with the attendance at Greenbuild, we have the power to eradicate the ills of the world, and in doing so, become truly humane.
